PolarSat
satellite communications technology served as the foundation of the
VSAT back-up network that Turkish service provider IsNet recently
completed for a local oil and gas company. In case the enterprise
customer's terrestrial network suffers from an outage of
connectivity, the IsNet back-up system will immediately deliver
satellite connectivity on demand.
The
Inset VSAT network serves as a back-up to the terrestrial Next
Generation Network (NGN). It is a full mesh all-IP based network
comprised of sixteen sites scattered throughout Turkey. Each site is
equipped with the PolarSat VSATPlus 3 MF-TDMA satellite modem and
support a complex mix of voice and data communications. IsNet manages
the entire backup network from its operational control center.
The
private network uses VSATPlus 3 to eliminate any single point of
failure and ensure greater reliability. In addition, the full mesh
capability of the PolarSat satellite modem lets a station link up
with any other site in the network with only a single hop over the
satellite. And since the sites can share bandwidth with each other,
the cost of implementing the satellite network was greatly decreased.
